The power of narrative to influence civic health

Series:
Date & time:
May 23, 2023 3pm EDT

Civic health reflects the opportunities people have to participate in their communities and impact decision making. Narratives, or the values-based stories we use to understand our world, influence the opportunities we have to participate in civic life. Narratives also shape our ability to advance racial and health equity and realize civic health. In this webinar, we will explore how narratives can influence policies and practices that make space for civic participation. We will hear from Jeannette Raymond with the Minnesota Department of Health and Gloria Dickerson, founder and CEO of We2gether Creating Change, a Mississippi Delta-based community organization. Both guests will share examples that demonstrate the power of narrative to create change.

Before attending the webinar, we encourage you to read Building narratives to advance health and racial equity and watch Transforming narratives to create racial and health equity.

County Health Rankings & Roadmaps will host a one-hour interactive virtual discussion at 4pm ET, immediately following the webinar. We encourage you to participate in an engaging dialogue with peers across the country to share your experiences with equity. Mark your calendars and plan to stay as long as you're able.
