CHR&R State Partners Address Inequities During the Pandemic
Each year, County Health Rankings & Roadmaps offers funding awards to state partners to address health and equity. When the pandemic hit in 2020, many state partners recognized the need to prioritize the inequities it exacerbated, and leverage their awards in unique ways.

For many urban dwellers, the country conjures up images of clean air, fresh food and physical activities. But these days, Americans residing in major cities live longer, healthier lives overall than their country cousins—a reversal from decades past.
Clean diesel technology fleet transition programs
Replace or retrofit diesel buses or other vehicles to operate with clean diesel technology
Clinic-based interventions for human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination
Combine information about HPV and the benefits of vaccination with efforts to support vaccine series completion (e.g., patient and parent education or reminders, physician education, etc.) in clinic-based settings
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for individuals involved in the justice system
Use individual or group therapy to help individuals involved in the justice system discover and change the thought processes that lead to maladaptive behavior
College access programs
Help high school students prepare for college, complete applications, and enroll, especially first-generation applicants and students from families with low incomes
College-based obesity prevention educational interventions
Support multi-component educational interventions for college students that address nutrition, physical activity, and healthy weight management; often with environmental modifications
