CHR&R Updates Data for 34 Measures, Will Not Produce a 2026 Annual Data Release

Publication date
March 30, 2026

County Health Rankings & Roadmaps (CHR&R) has updated data for 34 measures this March across a range of topics, including physical and mental health, health promotion and harm reduction, clinical care, housing and transportation, and income, employment and wealth. While users can still access existing CHR&R data, evidence, and guidance to support their efforts to improve community health, a number of familiar tools will not be updated in 2026.

CHR&R will not produce a 2026 Annual Data Release, as in previous years. That means that, though we updated a majority of measures since the 2025 Annual Data Release, there will be no National Findings Report, updated Health Groups for 2026 (formerly “Rankings”), trend graphs, or the “areas of strength” and “areas to explore” features in the county snapshots.

This final March data update comes after two that were made last year: In September 2025, we updated data for four clinical measures, including primary care physicians and mental health providers. Then, in November 2025, we updated 12 measures related to county-level mortality, including life expectancy, premature death and more.

To view all of the data updated through March 2026, navigate to your 2025 county or state snapshots.

To learn more, join or view a recording of a webinar on March 31, 2026. CHR&R staff will highlight our recent resources, including a Data Spotlight on mortality trends across U.S. counties, the 34 refreshed measures, What Works for Health strategies, and how users can easily navigate and download datasets and technical documentation.

We strongly encourage users to download the datasets and technical documentation available on our website before the end of the year, when the program’s funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation ends. The CHR&R website will remain up through December 2026. If we identify new funding, this timeline may be extended. We’ll share more updates via our newsletter as they become available.
