Engaging across differences: Constructive dialogue for civic health

Series:
Date & time:
April 18, 2023 3pm EDT

The U.S. is experiencing deep political polarization that can limit opportunities to participate in the civic life of a community.  Bridging – or engaging people who hold different views, values and identities – is one strategy to reduce polarization. In this webinar, we will introduce the practice of bridging to facilitate belonging, inclusion and civic participation. Caroline Mehl, co-founder and executive director of the Constructive Dialogue Institute (CDI), will join us to describe how engaging in constructive dialogue helps us understand and interact with one another. Mehl will share the science behind understanding and responding to shared problems. We will also learn about CDI’s evidence-based curriculum and how to implement its principles of constructive dialogue.
