Building a Movement for Health Equity

Date & time:

What does it take to build a movement for health equity in communities? Forming partnerships between local health departments, community organizations, government agencies, and those impacted by the poorest health outcomes is a first step. Equally important is to change the conversation about what creates health so we can address systemic power imbalances and oppression at the root of inequities.

Human Impact Partners (HIP) recently developed the Health Equity Guide (www.healthequityguide.org ) for health departments and their partners to advance health equity. This tool lays out strategic practices along with helpful examples and resources that support collaborative partnerships and transformative change.

Join us as we welcome Jonathan Heller, Co-Director of HIP, to describe the theory of change behind the guide as well as a live tour of the guideā€™s website. We will also hear from Alia Stevenson from Public Health Madison & Dane County, which is using the guide to start a health equity movement within their health department and in their community.
