UWPHI secures new multi-year funding to evolve CHR&R beyond 2026

Publication date

The University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute (UWPHI) has received new multi-year funding to adapt the County Health Rankings & Roadmaps (CHR&R) program.

Our funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation concludes in December 2026. While these new investments build upon CHR&R’s strong foundation, they will not extend CHR&R as it exists today.

This funding will allow us to sustain key aspects of our work while evolving to meet emerging needs and opportunities. Core national resources, including county-level data for every county in the United States and What Works for Health, will remain available and continue to be updated.

The funding will also support an expanded focus in Wisconsin and Minnesota through enhanced state and local data resources, new evidence tools aligned with community priorities, and a field-building initiative designed to strengthen connections and collaboration among organizations working to improve health and equity across both states.

Thank you to the organizations and individuals that have supported our program and staff through this transitional period. We are grateful to all our partners in public health, health care and other fields that remain committed to advancing health and equity.

We will provide additional details about our funding and the future of our work soon. Subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated.
