Issue certificates of employability to individuals with criminal convictions who have met pre-specified standards of rehabilitation; also called certificates of relief, reentry, good conduct, rehabilitation, recovery, etc.
Establish publicly financed schools that are not subject to many of the regulations that govern traditional public schools, such as staffing, curriculum, and budgeting requirements.
Provide preschool education and comprehensive support to low income families, including small classes, student meals, and home visits with referrals for social service support as needed
Promote child bicycle helmet use via bicycle safety education, media campaigns, or provision of free or subsidized helmets
Provide financial assistance to working parents, or parents attending school, to pay for center-based or certified in-home child care
Establish dedicated child development accounts (CDAs) to build assets over time with contributions from family, friends, and sometimes, supporting organizations; also called children’s savings accounts (CSAs)
Impose penalties on adults for a child’s unsupervised access to firearms or violation of safe firearm storage requirements
Expand federal or state child tax credits by increasing credit amounts, making credits refundable, decreasing or eliminating the earnings threshold, or creating a fully refundable supplement
Restrict child-focused advertising for unhealthy foods and beverages via bans on unhealthy food and drink ads during children’s TV programs, product placement in children’s movies, etc.
Implement multi-component efforts that include coordination of health services by multidisciplinary teams of health care professionals, patient self-management, and patient education
Provide educational and behavioral interventions that support patients’ ability to actively manage their condition(s) in everyday life
Replace or retrofit diesel buses or other vehicles to operate with clean diesel technology
Combine information about HPV and the benefits of vaccination with efforts to support vaccine series completion (e.g., patient and parent education or reminders, physician education, etc.)
Use individual or group therapy to help offenders discover and change the thought processes that lead to maladaptive behavior
Help underrepresented students prepare academically for college, complete applications, and enroll, especially first generation applicants and students from low income families
Support multi-component educational interventions for college students that address nutrition, physical activity, and healthy weight management; often with environmental modifications
Support locally-based visual, media, and performing arts initiatives for children and adults; also called participatory arts programs
Support community venues that facilitate local residents’ efforts to socialize, participate in recreational or educational activities, gain information, and seek counseling or support services
Provide funding for local community development activities such as affordable housing, anti-poverty programs, and infrastructure development
