Rural communities across the country are experiencing rapid change marked by increasing diversity, shrinking public health infrastructure, and mounting economic challenges. In this context, some people and groups in rural communities are contesting long-standing cultural norms. These changes can bring both challenges and opportunities.

Our November webinar will explore strategies and frameworks designed to facilitate innovation, resilience, and more inclusive prosperity in rural communities facing significant change. Julianna Dodson, the executive director of the Hannah Grimes Center for Entrepreneurship and the facilitator of the Radically Rural grassroots movement, will share how cultural narratives, interdependence, and entrepreneurship can drive holistic economic development. Bonita Robertson-Hardy, the co-executive director of the Aspen Institute’s Community Strategies Group, will highlight resources, including the Thrive Rural Development Framework and the emerging Rural Development Hub. These resources highlight strategies that can improve rural health through building capacity, creating local wealth, and strengthening regional partnerships. Together, the November webinar guests share expertise and on-the-ground experience to reveal how addressing narrative, culture, and policies can help augment resilience in rural communities.

Mark your calendars: Immediately following the webinar at 3 p.m. CT/4 p.m. ET, County Health Rankings & Roadmaps will host a one-hour discussion. Join us in an engaging dialogue with peers across the country and share your experiences working toward equity.
