Webinar series: Developing resilience for challenging times

Publication date
June 27, 2025

As the public health field faces unprecedented policy changes, government restructuring and the unraveling of decades of progress toward health and equity, we’re challenged to work together and in new ways to build long-term resilience.

Our Meeting the Moment summer webinar series will explore how power and societal rules shape the community conditions that influence health. We’ll examine the current landscape and uncover opportunities to build an enduring public health ecosystem.

Join us on July 15 for the first in our three-episode series to explore ways to organize in the context of recent policy shifts and restructuring. We’ll be joined by Dr. Susan Polan, the associate executive director for public affairs and advocacy at the American Public Health Association (APHA). Guest experts in August and September will include:

  • Commissioner George Dunlap, the vice president of the National Association of Counties (NACo) and chairman of the Mecklenburg County Board of County Commissioners;
  • Dr. Tami Gouveia, director of the Center for Innovation in Social Work & Health, Paul Farmer Professor at Boston University School of Social Work and former Massachusetts state representative;
  • Dr. Christine Muganda, data and analytics team leader at County Health Rankings & Roadmaps; and,
  • Paul Kennedy, the president of the Walker Area Community Foundation in Jasper, Alabama.

Each webinar will be followed by a one-hour discussion. Register now for part one, Navigating a quickly changing public health landscape. Registration and details for the Aug. 19 and Sept. 23 webinars will be updated here.
