We know that good health goes beyond medical care and is influenced by economic opportunity, affordable housing, and quality education - all factors that communities can transform. Equitable economic development is a multifaceted and comprehensive approach to community transformation that advances equity when areas like displacement prevention, racial segregation, neighborhood disinvestment, and income inequality are addressed. Join County Health Rankings & Roadmaps and guests from PolicyLink and the Bronx-based federally qualified health center (FQHC), Urban Health Plan, as we discuss equitable economic development as a strategy to improve health. Together, we will learn about equitable economic development with the National Equity Atlas, a partnership between PolicyLink and the USC Program for Environmental and Regional Equity, and how this data resource can support your local efforts. We will then highlight Urban Health Plan’s partnership work to support development by demonstrating how an FQHC can bring members of the community together to improve health and equity.
