Publication date

Several hundred individuals from across the country recently participated in a webinar to discuss the RWJF Culture of Health Prize and the 2015 Call for Applications (CFA). Awarded annually by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the RWJF Culture of Health Prize honors communities that are making great strides in their journey toward better health.

“The RWJF Culture of Health Prize offers an opportunity to identify and elevate communities that are at the forefront of health, of prevention, and at the forefront of cultivating better health for all,” said Abbey Cofsky, Senior Program Officer of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

A $25,000 place-based cash prize now awarded to up to 10 communities each year, the RWJF Culture of Health Prize was launched to advance the work of the County Health Rankings & Roadmaps program, a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

“The prize is not a grant,” said Abbey Cofsky, Senior Program Officer of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. “Its purpose is not to fund efforts; rather its purpose is to celebrate innovative approaches and community successes.”

Key dates for the RWJF Culture of Health Prize include:

  • September 17, 2014: Phase 1 Applications due
  • October 17, 2014: Select communities will be invited to submit a Phase 2 Application
