June 25, 2014

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation announced this year’s RWJF Culture of Health Prize winners at the Aspen Ideas Festival Spotlight: Health. Six diverse communities were honored in recognition of their significant accomplishments in building a Culture of Health.

Representing places large and small from across the nation, prize communities signify leadership and solutions-driven leadership at its finest. This year’s prize communities include: Brownsville, Texas; Buncombe County, North Carolina; Durham County, North Carolina; Spokane County, Washington; Taos Pueblo, New Mexico; and Williamson, West Virginia.

The winning communities were selected from more than 250 applicants from across the country for their strong partnerships and pioneering strategies to improve community health.

“The RWJF Culture of Health Prize winners are leading some of the nation’s most innovative efforts to build a national Culture of Health,” said Dr. Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, RWJF president and CEO. “These communities are inspiring examples of what is possible when all sectors work together so that every resident has the opportunity to live a long and healthy life.”
