These data sources provide information for communities looking for more local data. These sources provide either unique, local data; more information on demographic breakdowns (e.g., age, sex, race/ethnicity); or data for sub-county geographic units (e.g., cities, zipcodes or school districts).

The Behavioral Risk Factor Survey is an annual survey of Illinois’ adult population about behaviors which affect risk of disease and disability.

Illinois Department of Public Health - Cancer in Illinois

This site provides information about the Department's cancer control programs, population-based cancer incidence studies, morbidity and mortality data, and cancer by site fact sheets.

Illinois Department of Public Health - Crash Data

The query system allows one to search crashes by the following criteria: collision type, severity, lighting conditions, weather, day of week, time period, and county of occurrence.

Illinois Department of Public Health - Vital Statistics

The Department of Health Statistics provides access to a variety of county-level data: vital statistics, population, hospital discharges, cancer registry, behavioral risk factors, sexually transmitted infections, childhood lead poisoning, mortality, and motor vehicle crashes. 

Illinois State Board of Education - Data Analysis and Accountability

Analyzes data for policy and planning; coordinates annual reporting on progress related to Board goals and legislative requirements.

Illinois State Police - Uniform Crime Reports

The Uniform Crime Reporting program is a system of collecting and analyzing crime and arrest statistics gathered on selected types of crime by participating law enforcement agencies throughout each state.

Illinois Youth Survey

The IYS is a self-report survey administered in school settings and is designed to gather information about a variety of health and social indicators including substance use and attitudes of Illinois youth.


IQuery is Illinois Query, a web-based data query system for collecting and disseminating public health data. Iquery includes Community health indicators such as Demographic and Socioeconomic Characteristics; General Health and Access to Care;  Maternal and Child Health; Chronic Disease; Infectious Disease; Environmental, Occupational, and Injury Control; and Sentinel Events
