Upcoming Webinar: Putting Rankings Into Action, Featuring the Jackson Area of Chamber of Commerce in Madison County, TN

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

A healthy community attracts business and responsible businesses in turn improve the health of a community. This close relationship makes chamber of commerce members well situated as key partners and leaders in community health.

When the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce President Kyle Spurgeon reviewed the results of the 2010 County Health Rankings, he saw that the area's health conditions could be directly tied in to its economic prowess.

"What I realized was that because of these rankings, you can now compare apples to apples,” Spurgeon said. “When a company is evaluating Jackson as a prospective location, they look at key location criteria - and wellness outcomes are part of that location criteria search. All other things being equal, a healthier community stands a better shot at getting a project than one that's unhealthy.

On August 9, Kyle Spurgeon will be the featured speaker during the next Rankings in Action webinar, providing an overview of how the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce has used the County Health Rankings to improve the overall health and well being of his community.
