County Health Rankings & Roadmaps Briefing and Meetings on Capitol Hill

On May 2, RWJF hosted a County Health Rankings & Roadmaps (CHR&R) briefing in Washington, D.C. for an audience of Hill staff, agency staff and national health organizations. Jim Marks, Michelle Larkin and Patrick Remington described the Rankings & Roadmaps program and provided a tour of the new interactive features of the web site. Chip Johnson, Mayor of Hernando, MS and star of one of this year’s CHR&R video stories, told attendees about the how he has used the Rankings framework to develop new partnerships and implement policies to improve people’s health in Hernando. Following the briefing, the panelists and additional RWJF staff attended 16 meetings with a variety of House and Senate staff, including Johnson’s delegation. Steve Woolf of Virginia Commonwealth University, creator of the County Health Calculator, joined the RWJF and Wisconsin team and Chip Johnson for a late afternoon roundtable with Senate HELP Committee staff.
