Albany Herald: Officials: Dougherty County is unhealthy

While it is not surprising that Dougherty County would be among the unhealthiest counties in the state, officials here are continuing to reinforce the importance of taking care of one’s self into the public mindset.  In recognition of Public Health Week, Southwest Public Health District Epidemiologist Jacqueline Jenkins delivered an address titled “The State of Health in Dougherty County” at the Dougherty County Health Department Friday. The central message of the lecture was that illness, disease, disability and death do not occur randomly. Rather, they reflect on geographical, environmental and social factors.
