Where It Comes From:

These data were calculated for the County Health Rankings by National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) using data from the National Vital Statistics System (NVSS).  NCHS used data for a seven-year period to create more robust estimates of cause-specific mortality, particularly for counties with smaller populations.
