The National Association of Counties (NACo) is one of our national partners in our mission to help people be healthy in their own communities. Next month, NACo is holding a special Roadmaps to Health Forum to explore and identify opportunities to develop, enhance and sustain positive health outcomes in our counties.

The Forum will be held Oct. 30-Nov. 1 in Madison, Wis. Counties are encouraged to participate in teams, including elected and appointed officials and key staff that focus on health and human services in their work (i.e. public health, parks and recreation, economic development, department on aging).

Topics include opportunities to:

  • Explore opportunities to build, enhance and sustain multi-sector partners to work collaboratively to implement strategies that result in a healthy systems change;
  • Assess potential measures and additional sources of data (e.g. local, state, or national) that will help your county address questions about the community needs;
  • Identify tools and resources to detect your county’s assets, needs & gaps, to help your county prioritize efforts; and
  • Explore evidence-informed policies and programs to address county needs.

Join us and NACo to share a vision and commitment to improve county health. Learn more and register at http://www.naco.org/programs/csd/pages/naco2013roadmapstohealthforum.aspx. Space is limited and the registration deadline is Oct. 4.
